Mercy Chelangat, a senior at Alabama representing Kenya, placed second in the women's 5,000-meter final in 15:25.07 at the Southeastern Conference Championships at LSU's Bernie Moore Track and Field Stadium in Baton Rouge. Chelangat, winner of the past two conference 5,000 crowns, was edged by Florida's Parker Valby in 15:25.03.
