Florida junior Grant Holloway moved closer to the collegiate record in the 110-meter hurdles Friday in the Southeastern Conference prelims by clocking a world-leading 13.07 seconds at John McDonnell Field in Fayetteville, Ark.

Holloway, who set meet and facility records, improved on his own personal best as the No. 2 performer in collegiate history, still pursuing the 1979 record of 13.00 seconds by Maryland’s Renaldo Nehemiah.

Holloway ascended to the No. 19 performer in American history and No. 32 all-time in the world. Only 11 Americans and 20 athletes overall have eclipsed the 13-second barrier.

Mississippi State sophomore Anderson Peters eclipsed his own meet record and added the facility record as well Thursday in the men’s javelin with a second-round effort of 273-5 (83.35m).

Peters, the No. 3 all-time collegiate performer, now boasts four of the top eight throws in NCAA Division 1 history.

Vanderbilt junior Kristen Denk captured her first conference title in the women’s pole vault, clearing 14-3.50 (4.36m) on her first try to upstage Arkansas senior sisters Tori Hoggard and Lexi Jacobus, who both cleared the same height, but on their second and third attempts, respectively.

Florida’s Yanis David won the women’s long jump with a second-round leap of 21-10 (6.65m). Tennessee’s Stamatia Scarvelis produced a sixth-round effort of 224-2 (68.32m) to secure the women’s hammer throw title.

LSU sophomore JuVaughn Harrison cleared 7-4.25 (2.24m) on his third attempt to win the men’s high jump and placed second in the long jump at 26-3.75 (8.02m) behind Missouri sophomore Ja’Mari Ward and his second-round leap of 26-7 (8.10m).

Florida sophomore Thomas Mardal produced a personal-best 239-6 (73.00m) in the sixth round Thursday to knock off reigning NCAA Division 1 hammer throw champion Denzel Comenentia of Georgia, who led after five rounds at 234-6 (71.48m).
