James Smith II of Texas A&M and Corde Long of Alabama, both former Arizona high school standouts, placed second and third in the men's 400-meter hurdles final at the Southeastern Conference Championships at the Ole Miss Track and Field Complex in Oxford, Mississippi. Smith II, who attended Westwood High, clocked 49.41 seconds and Long, a Raymond S. Kellis graduate, ran 49.59 seconds.
